Body Lotion vs Body Serum - What’s the Difference?

Body lotions and body serums are designed for different purposes within a routine.

A body lotion is primarily focused on hydration. It helps soften the skin and support moisture levels.

A body serum is typically more treatment-focused.

Formulated with active ingredients like AHA and BHA, body serums are designed to help improve the appearance of concerns like rough texture, visible congestion and uneven-looking tone.

Unlike moisturiser, an AHA/BHA body serum is designed as a treatment-focused step within a routine.

Rather than replacing moisturiser, a body serum is used alongside it.

In a routine, body serum is applied after cleansing, followed by moisturiser to help support hydration and skin comfort.

For skin concerns linked to buildup and congestion, combining exfoliation with hydration often gives a more complete routine.
