What is AHA and BHA for body skin?

If you’ve ever looked into improving your skin, you’ve probably come across AHA and BHA.

But what do they actually do for your body?

AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), like glycolic and lactic acid, work on the surface of the skin. They help remove skin buildup, which can improve the look of rough texture and uneven tone.

BHA (beta hydroxy acid), like salicylic acid, works deeper within pores. It helps clear congestion, which is often linked to breakouts and bumpy-looking skin.

When used together, AHA and BHA support smoother-looking, clearer-looking skin over time.

This is why they’re often used as a treatment step in a routine not to replace moisturiser, but to do something moisturiser alone can’t.

For body skin, a leave-on AHA/BHA product allows these ingredients to work gradually across areas like arms, legs, back and chest.

Like anything in skincare, consistency matters. Visible changes build over time with regular use.
